This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and what choices and rights you have.

Company / operator: Computernik OÜ

2. What qr.ee does

qr.ee allows users to create QR codes. Our service may include:

  • static QR code generation performed in the browser;
  • dynamic QR codes that redirect through our servers;
  • analytics for dynamic QR codes;
  • management links that allow editing a dynamic QR destination.

3. Information we collect

We collect different information depending on how you use the service.

A. Static QR generation

When you generate a static QR code, the QR content may be processed locally in your browser. We do not intend to store static QR content on our servers unless a specific feature requires it.

B. Dynamic QR codes

If you create a dynamic QR code, we may store:

  • the destination URL;
  • the generated short code;
  • the management token or secret management link;
  • timestamps such as creation and update times.

C. Scan analytics for dynamic QR codes

When someone scans a dynamic QR code, we may collect limited technical and usage data such as:

  • date and time of the scan;
  • country or region derived from network information;
  • device type or browser category;
  • the dynamic QR identifier.

Where possible, we minimize the data we store. We do not use scan analytics to build personal profiles of visitors.

D. Contact communications

If you contact us directly, we may collect your email address, your message, and related correspondence.

4. How we use personal data

We use personal data to:

  • provide the service;
  • generate and manage dynamic QR codes;
  • redirect dynamic QR codes to their configured destination;
  • provide analytics about dynamic QR scans;
  • maintain service security and prevent abuse;
  • respond to support or legal requests;
  • improve reliability and performance.

5. Legal bases for processing

Depending on the context, we may process personal data:

  • to provide the service you request;
  • for our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the service;
  • to comply with legal obligations;
  • on the basis of consent where consent is required.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

We may use essential cookies or similar technologies necessary for the operation and security of the service.

If we use non-essential analytics, advertising, or preference cookies, we will ask for consent where required and provide more information in a cookie notice or consent banner.

7. Dynamic QR analytics

Dynamic QR analytics are intended to help QR owners understand usage trends, such as:

  • how many times a QR code was scanned;
  • when it was scanned;
  • which country or broad region the scan came from;
  • what type of device was used.

We aim to keep this analytics data aggregated and privacy-conscious. We do not intend to collect more data than is necessary for basic QR performance reporting.

8. Data retention

We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to provide the service, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes.

Typical retention periods may include:

  • dynamic QR configuration data: for as long as the QR remains active or until deleted;
  • scan analytics: [90 days / 12 months / until deleted];
  • support emails: for as long as needed to handle the request and keep appropriate records.

You should update these retention periods to match how the service actually works.

We may share data with service providers that help us operate qr.ee, such as:

  • hosting providers;
  • database providers;
